Near our town there is
the Kornati archipelago,
sumptuous group of islands
and unique in its beauty.
Primeval power of nature
can be
experienced there. There
are not so
many cliffs, capes, islands
and islets,
coves and bays in other
places as
much on Kornati. The archipelago
is
covering the area of around
300 km2 and
has 148 islands with the
area of 62 km2. |

National park Kornati protects and preserves
the most beautiful part of the Croatian
part of the Adriatic sea from the man
for the mankind since 1980. Both the
sea and the islands are protected as
well as all the sea and continental
world, including all flora and fauna.
Because of the autumn and winter gusts
of the southern wind, dark clouds that
announce a rainstorm, the archipelago
becomes dangerously dark. However, in
spring and summer, the blueness of the
sea and the sky, with the whiteness
of the islands, are the main contributors
to the atmosphere on Kornati, the pearl
of Adriatic.
